BIOGRAPHY
JEREMY SWAN started as a child actor in the Dublin Gate Theatre working for Hilton Edwards and Micheal MacLiammoir. At a tender age he had played every major capital’s theatre as the Page in SAINT JOAN, starring Siobhan McKenna.
After a career in the theatre as a stage manager and scenic artist he joined the Irish Film Industry at Ardmore Studios as an Assistant Director and worked on THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD starring Richard Burton.
From Irish Television (RTE) he joined Granada TV to work on CORONATION STREET as a floor manager in 1966; subsequently he joined BBC TV’s Children’s Programmes – initially to direct JACKANORY with such performing stalwarts as Kenneth Williams, Bernard Cribbins, Judi Dench and Elaine Stritch.
He became the producer of the popular series RENTAGHOST, GRANDAD starring Clive Dunn and POTTER’S PICTURE PALACE starring Melvyn Hayes. He directed PLAYAWAY, the BLUE PETER pantomimes, and wrote and produced the series JULIA JEKYLL AND HARRIET HYDE. For Jim Henson Productions he directed THE SECRET LIFE OF TOYS and for ITV he directed ART ATTACK, SOOTY and FRAGGLE ROCK.
In Australia he worked on ROUND THE TWIST as a producer and directed THE GENIE FROM DOWN UNDER.
His work as an exhibition artist inspired him to write his first stage play SUDDEN DEATHS for the 24th Summer Play Season in Sidmouth.
